Why Take Online Singing Lessons With a Working Performer
Most online singing programs are built around fixed video courses or rotating contract teachers. Denise performs regularly with three bands across Northern California — the Not Just Jazz Quartet (jazz standards & Latin jazz), La Diversion (high-energy Latin), and The Rhythm and Blues Project (R&B & blues) — as well as the Columbia College Jazz Band. The technique she teaches comes from active stage experience, not just theory.
As your online vocal coach, Denise tailors every session to your voice, your goals, and your style — whether you are a complete beginner picking up singing for the first time, an adult singer returning to music after years away, or an experienced vocalist looking to refine your technique and stage presence.
Online voice lessons via Zoom deliver the exact same personalized, professional coaching as in-person sessions — the same warmth, the same patience, the same real performer's perspective. Just through a screen instead of across a room.

A Real Working Vocalist — Not Just a Teacher.
Denise performs regularly with three bands across the Mother Lode region — the Not Just Jazz Quartet (jazz standards, Latin jazz & bossa nova), La Diversion (high-energy Latin), and The Rhythm and Blues Project (R&B & blues). She's also a featured vocalist with the Columbia College Jazz Band. Lessons are delivered live via Zoom — free to download, easy to use.
Her 2025 Best Jazz Band nomination from the Modesto Area Music Awards speaks for itself. When you study with Denise, you're learning from someone who performs the same repertoire she teaches — week in, week out.
That is what sets Denise apart as an online singing coach — real, current, working knowledge of what it takes to hold an audience, command a stage, and connect with a song. Every lesson draws from that experience directly.

My Own Journey Back to Singing.
For years, illness kept me away from music entirely. There was a long stretch where I genuinely didn't know if I'd ever sing again.
Then in 2021, I started singing again almost on a whim — I joined the jazz singers class at Columbia College just for fun. Today, at 62, I perform regularly with three bands — the Not Just Jazz Quartet, La Diversion, and The Rhythm and Blues Project — sing with the Columbia College Jazz Band, and in 2025 my band was nominated for Best Jazz Band by the Modesto Area Music Awards..
If you're picking up singing for the first time, or coming back to it after years away, I understand what that journey takes — because I've lived it. I'd love to help you find your way back to your voice too.
My online singing lessons for adults are especially rewarding — adult students bring life experience, emotional depth, and real commitment to every session. It is never too late. Your voice is still there — it just needs the right guidance to find its way out.
