Denise brings something rare to voice lessons: the perspective of a working professional performer. She fronts the Not Just Jazz Quartet, La Diversion, and The Rhythm and Blues Project; performs across Northern California year-round; and is a regular vocalist with the Columbia College Jazz Band.
When she teaches breath support, phrasing, stage presence, or confidence, she teaches it from the stage as well as the studio. Denise Choate & The Not Just Jazz Band was nominated for Best Jazz Band at the 2025 Modesto Area Music Awards.
